Hours after Pakistani Army Chief General Asim issued nuclear threat to India from the US soil, former Pakistan Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto issued a fresh volley of threats, warning New Delhi of war if it proceeds with changes to the Indus Waters Treaty.

Speaking at an event organised by the Culture Department of the Government of Sindh, Bhutto accused India of “barbarism” and claimed that New Delhi had attacked Pakistan. He rallied supporters by declaring, “every Pakistani is ready to fight a war” and boasted that Pakistan’s armed forces had delivered a “historic reply” to India.

“So, if you think of carrying out an attack like Sindoor, then know that the people of every province of Pakistan are ready to fight you, and this is a war that you will definitely lose,” he warned.

Bhutto’s remarks came hours after Munir repeated his anti-India rhetoric while addressing the Pakistani diaspora in Tampa, Florida. His statement was chilling in its bluntness: “We are a nuclear nation. If we think we are going down, we’ll take half the world down with us,” media reports quoted him as saying.

Munir also threatened to destroy Indian infrastructure, particularly targeting New Delhi’s water projects on the Indus River.

The remarks by Munir and Bhutto clearly reflect their frustration over New Delhi’s decision to put the Indus Waters Treaty in abeyance since the Pahalgam terror attack in April this year.

Bhutto went further, asserting that Pakistan is “strong enough for war to get back all six rivers” and vowed that his country “will never bow down.”

Bhutto has repeatedly scapegoated India for regional tensions following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, with no credible evidence, while threatening retaliation over the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty.

In response to the Pahalgam attack, diplomatic ties between India and Pakistan have sharply deteriorated. New Delhi announced multiple punitive measures, including suspending the Indus Waters Treaty, reducing the strength of Pakistan’s diplomatic mission, and expelling military attachés.

The two countries engaged in four days of cross-border hostilities after India launched Operation Sindoor against terror camps inside Pakistan. New Delhi struck multiple airbases, significantly damaging the capabilities of the Pakistani Army, while effectively repelling missile and drone attacks.

Pakistan’s aggressive posturing, led by figures like Bhutto and Munir, only underscores the persistent threat Islamabad poses to regional peace and stability.
