Elon Musk's father, Errol Musk, has claimed that the feud between his son and U.S. President Donald Trump stems from "PTSD" Trump developed during his time in the White House. He also stated that he believes Elon made a mistake by opposing Trump, who he thinks will ultimately prevail in their ongoing dispute.
“So they had an argument about that [bill], and as they are all suffering from a bit of PTSD, a post-traumatic stress disorder over the last few months, they started hitting out at each other," Errol Said as reported by Metro.
The public fallout between Tesla CEO Elon Musk and President Trump escalated following Musk’s criticism of Trump’s recent “Big, Beautiful Bill.”
“But unfortunately, he doesn’t realise that in order to get their votes in the Senate and the Congress, Trump has to do that," he added.
“They are the only two people left in the arena, Trump and Elon, and all they were used to was fighting with the opposition. They’ve been under a lot of stress for five months. And it gives them a break. You know, they’ve had to get rid of all the opposition, try and put the country back on track, and do normal things and so forth," Errol further added.
Both have been under considerable strain for the past five months, and the introduction of the bill served as a breaking point, escalating tensions between them.
"They're very tired and stressed. And so you can expect something like this. It's not unusual. Trump will prevail. He's the president. He was elected as the president, so Elon made a mistake, I think. But he's tired. He's stressed."
Trump-Musk bromance took shocking turn
The fallout started when Elon Musk sharply criticized President Trump’s expansive tax and domestic policy bill, describing it as a “disgusting abomination.”
Musk argued that the legislation would significantly worsen the federal deficit and could push the nation toward a full-blown debt crisis.
What began as a policy dispute soon turned personal, with both Musk and Trump trading insults online and behind closed doors. Musk also resurfaced past statements from Trump and Republican leaders on fiscal responsibility, further intensifying the conflict.
