Erika Kirk, the wife of conservative activist and author Charlie Kirk, has paid a deeply emotional tribute to her late husband, sharing poignant images of herself by his casket in an Instagram post.
“The world is evil,” wrote Erika Kirk, 36, in the tribute that included family photographs and images of her alongside the coffin. “But our Saviour. Our Lord. Our God. He… He is so good. I will never have the words. Ever.”
Charlie Kirk, 31, was assassinated on Wednesday, 10 September, whilst addressing students at Utah Valley University.
In her Instagram post, Erika reflected on her husband’s mission and vowed that his message would only grow stronger after his death.
“The sound of this widow weeping echoes throughout this world like a battle cry. I have no idea what any of this means. But baby I know you do and so does our Lord. They have no idea what they just ignited within this wife. If they thought my husband’s mission was big now… you have no idea. You. All of you. Will never. Ever. Forget my husband Charlie Kirk I’ll make sure of it,” she declared.
She ended her post with a message of faith: “Rest in the arms of our Lord baby as he blankets you with the words I know your heart always strived to hear, ‘well done My good and faithful servant’.”
In her first public comments since her spouse was slain, Erika Kirk vowed in a tearful but defiant video message on Friday evening that "the movement built by my husband will not die" but grow stronger.
Speaking from the studio of his radio-podcast show, she urged young people to join Turning Point, exalting her husband as a fallen political hero who "now and for all eternity will stand at his savior's side wearing the glorious crown of a martyr."
Kirk, co-founder of the conservative student group Turning Point USA and a staunch Trump ally, was gunned down by a single rifle shot fired from a rooftop during an outdoor event attended by 3,000 people at Utah Valley University in Orem, about 40 miles south (65 km) of Salt Lake City.
