Tech billionaire Elon Musk criticized The New York Times as "pure propaganda" following US President Donald Trump’s legal victory over the Pulitzer Prize Board in a 2022 lawsuit concerning reports by The New York Times and Washington Post about the 2016 Trump campaign’s ties to Russia.

Musk posted on his X account, "Can’t wait until they have to return their Pulitzer for their deliberate lies about the Russia hoax. That will be a good day."

This came after the Fourth District Court of Appeal in Florida rejected the Pulitzer Prize Board’s request to postpone the defamation lawsuit until the end of Trump’s current term, according to Law & Crime.

In their seven-page decision, the court stated that the board failed to demonstrate any "constitutional conflicts" warranting a postponement of the case, noting that only the president himself can assert such privileges.

Trump posted on his Truth Social, “BREAKING! In a major WIN in our powerful lawsuit against the Pulitzer Prize Board regarding the illegal and defamatory ‘Award’ of their once highly respected ‘Prize,’ to fake, malicious stories on the Russia, Russia, Russia Hoax, by the Failing New York Times and the Washington Compost, the Florida Appellate Court viciously rejected the Defendants’ corrupt attempt to halt the case.”

"They won a Pulitzer Prize for totally incorrect reporting about the Russia, Russia, Russia Hoax. Now they admit it was a SCAM, never happened, and their reporting was totally wrong, in fact, the exact opposite of the TRUTH" he added.

Mentioning that the media outlets involved in the case have to give back their 'award,' he added, "They were awarded for false reporting, and we can’t let that happen in the United States of America. We are holding the Fake News Media responsible for their LIES to the American People, so we can, together, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!"

Trump’s lawsuit targets the board members and administrative staff of the Pulitzer Prize organization who were in place when the 2018 awards were given. He filed the case in December 2022 in Okeechobee County, located in central Florida, roughly 60 miles northwest of his Palm Beach residence, Politico reported.
