US President Donald Trump reacted to world's richest man Elon Musk's diatribe against him on Thursday saying that Tesla CEO Elon Musk misses being in the White House and has “Trump derangement syndrome.”

This comes after Musk lambasted Trump's signature ‘One Big Beautiful Bill’, calling it an "abomination" and a “mountain of disgusting pork”.

Reacting to his former backer and advisor turning against him, Trump said he's “disappointed”, and added, "Look, Elon and I had a great relationship. I don't know if we will anymore. I was surprised."

Commenting on his relation with Musk, Trump said, "You saw a man who was very happy when he stood behind the Oval desk. Even with a black eye. I said, do you want a little makeup? He said, 'No, I don't think so,' which is interesting ... Elon and I had a great relationship. I don't know if we will anymore."

Trump suggested the Tesla CEO misses being in the White House and has “Trump derangement syndrome.”

In a response to Trump saying he "would have won Pennsylvania regardless of Elon", Musk went on a rant on X. He tore into Trump with tweets, and wrote, "Without me, Trump would have lost the election, the Democrats would control the House, and the Republicans would be 51-49 in the Senate."

The Republican president reflected on his breakup with Musk in front of reporters in the Oval Office as Musk continued a storm of social media posts attacking Trump's “Big Beautiful Bill” and warning it will increase the federal deficit.
