The "One Big Beautiful Bill Act," passed by Congress on Thursday, is set to be signed by President Donald Trump on Independence Day. Republicans delivered the sweeping legislation to the President just in time for the July 4 celebrations, following a successful push through Congress. Trump will formally sign the bill during a ceremony on Friday.
The sprawling mega bill, spanning over 940 pages, includes tax breaks, spending cuts, and other Republican priorities such as increased funding for national defense and immigration enforcement. It passed the Senate with Vice President J.D. Vance casting the tie-breaking vote.
Let's take a closer look what's inside Trump's one Big Beautiful Act -
Tax cuts
The bill includes roughly $4.5 trillion in tax cuts, with provisions such as increasing the child tax credit from $2,000 to $2,200, though lower-income families wouldn’t receive the full amount.
It introduces temporary deductions for tips, overtime pay, and auto loans, along with a $6,000 deduction for seniors earning up to $75,000 annually, aligning with Trump’s promise to eliminate taxes on Social Security benefits.
Republicans are advancing the legislation as existing tax cuts from Trump’s first term are set to expire in December, warning of a significant tax hike.
The bill also aims to make current tax brackets permanent and raises the SALT deduction cap to $40,000 for five years, a key issue for high-tax states like New York. The House version had proposed the same cap for 10 years.
Money for deportations
The bill allocates around $350 billion for Trump’s border and national security initiatives, including $46 billion for the U.S.-Mexico border wall and $45 billion to fund 100,000 beds in migrant detention centers part of his plan for the largest mass deportation effort in U.S. history.
It also includes funding to hire 10,000 new ICE officers with $10,000 signing bonuses, boosts Border Patrol staffing, and aims to deport up to 1 million people annually. A new $10 billion fund, controlled by the Secretary of Homeland Security, would offer grants to states supporting federal immigration enforcement.
Golden Dome
The Pentagon would receive funding for shipbuilding, weapons systems, and support for military personnel. It also includes "$25 billion" for the Golden Dome missile defense system and "$1 billion" for border security efforts.
Medicaid curbs
A provision added to the bill at the final hours will provide $10 billion annually to rural hospitals for five years, or $50 billion in total. Senate Republicans proposed steeper cuts to Medicaid funding, in part by incrementally lowering provider taxes from 6% to 3.5% by 2032.
One provision bars for one year Medicaid payments to family planning providers that provide abortions, namely Planned Parenthood.

When the bill will be implemented?
As the bill has cleared the House, it will be sent to President Trump for his signature on July 4. Once signed, the bill will take effect immediately, though some provisions will be implemented over time. Its measures will impact a wide range of Americans, including seniors, students, parents, and low-income families.
Dramatic 'magic minute' speech
House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries set a new record for the longest floor speech as the House debated President Trump’s tax and spending cut proposal.
Starting at 4:53 a.m. EDT, Jeffries spoke for over eight hours, using the House’s “magic minute” rule to delay the vote and protest the bill’s proposed social cuts. His address included reading letters from Americans who rely on programs like Medicaid and SNAP. Speaker Johnson criticized the lengthy speech, calling it a waste of time.
