Authorities under the Taliban government are looking into an explosion that occurred in Kabul on Thursday night, according to the administration’s main spokesperson, reported AP.
The incident took place shortly before 10 p.m. near Abdul Haq Square -- an area surrounded by several government ministries and the national intelligence headquarters. Following the blast, security forces quickly cordoned off the location.
According to AP, Zabihullah Mujahid, the Taliban government’s chief spokesman, confirmed the event in a post on X, writing: “An explosion was heard in Kabul city. But don’t worry, it’s all good and well. The accident is under investigation, and no injuries have been reported yet. So far there is no report of any harm done.”
Residents in the capital also reported hearing what seemed to be another explosion in the Shar-e-Naw district, though officials have not verified any second blast.
Mujahid emphasized that, as of now, there are “no reports of injuries or damage.”
