Andrew Cabot, the estranged husband of former Astronomer HR executive Kristin Cabot, has revealed that the two were already separated before her highly publicised encounter with then-CEO Andy Byron at a Coldplay concert in July.

Andrew, who is the CEO of Privateer Rum, issued a statement on Monday through a spokesperson confirming that he and Kristin had parted ways well before the viral moment.

“Andrew and Kristin were privately and amicably separated several weeks before the Coldplay concert,” the spokesperson told People.

“Their decision to divorce was already underway prior to that evening. Now that the divorce filing is public, Andrew hopes this provides respectful closure to speculation and allows his family the privacy they’ve always valued.”

Kristin, 52, had filed for divorce on August 13 in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, according to court documents obtained by Daily Mail.

Property records reviewed by The New York Post reveal that she had shared a Rye, NH, address with Andrew since at least 2023. A Facebook post believed to be from May 2024 also showed Kristin smiling alongside Andrew and their two young children, wearing what appeared to be a large wedding ring.

Coldplay kiss cam controversy

The controversy erupted after Kristin and Byron, 50, were caught on the Jumbotron in a romantic embrace during a Coldplay concert in Boston.

Once they realized they were on camera, Byron immediately ducked down while Kristin covered her face before eventually turning around. Coldplay lead Chris Martin joked from the stage, “Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy.”

The moment quickly spread online and led to both Kristin and Byron resigning from Astronomer in July.

Andrew’s former wife, Julia Cabot — to whom he was married for four years until their 2018 divorce — also backed Andrew’s account, telling Daily Mail that he had informed her of the separation shortly after the scandal broke.

“I texted Andrew right after [the kiss cam scandal] happened, and he said: ‘Her life is nothing to do with me,’ and said they were separating,” Julia said.

Meanwhile, Byron’s wife, Megan Kerrigan Byron, also reportedly left their $1.4 million home after the incident and moved to the couple’s $2.4 million Maine property while holding “crisis talks” about her marriage, according to Daily Mail.
