US President Donald Trump on Sunday claimed “big progress” had been made on Russia, following his high-stakes summit in Alaska with President Vladimir Putin that focused on finding a way to end the conflict in Ukraine.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin have agreed on “robust security guarantees” for Ukraine during their high-stakes summit in Alaska, a senior White House envoy said on Sunday as reported by news agency AFP.
“We agreed to robust security guarantees that I would describe as game-changing,” White House representative Steve Witkoff told CNN.
US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin have also agreed to provide “robust security guarantees” for Ukraine during their high-stakes summit in Alaska, White House representative Steve Witkoff told CNN.
“We agreed to robust security guarantees that I would describe as game-changing,” Witkoff said.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen welcomed Trump’s proposal to extend NATO-style assurances to Kyiv as she met Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky ahead of his White House talks.
“We welcome President Trump’s willingness to contribute to (NATO) Article 5-like security guarantees for Ukraine, and the coalition of the willing, including the European Union, is ready to do its share,” von der Leyen said.
Zelensky is scheduled to meet Trump in Washington on Monday, with von der Leyen and other European leaders also expected to join the discussions.
