At least four people have died following violent clashes at a National Citizens Party (NCP) rally in Gopalganj, Bangladesh.
The confrontation between supporters of deposed Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s Awami League and security forces prompted the interim government in Dhaka to impose a curfew in Gopalganj - birthplace of Sheikh Hasina's father, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Members of the NCP were forced to escape the scene in an army armoured personnel carrier and sought shelter at the superintendent of police’s office, according to eyewitnesses and sources. They later departed Gopalganj in the same vehicle.
According to Bangladeshi news outlet The Dhaka Tribune, the four deceased have been identified as Dipto Saha (25), Ramzan Kazi (18), Sohel Rana (30), and Imon (24).
