Pakistan army chief and Field Marshal Asim Munir on Wednesday went on another wild rant about his country's so-called "achievements" during Operation Sindoor, claiming that it “enhanced” Islamabad's global stature.

In an event at the General Headquarters (GHQ), Munir said that the “professionalism, resolve and commitment” demonstrated by his forces during Marka-i-Haq put the country on the world map.

"Marka-i-Haq" is a term used by the Pakistan army to describe the period of conflict with India from the April 22 Pahalgam attack to May 10 when a ceasefire was announced.

Carrying forward his lofty remarks about Pakistan’s future, Munir said the country is “a nation of consequence and destined to attain its rightful place in the comity of nations.” The comment mirrors his earlier remarks, made in April before the Pahalgam attack, where he invoked religious distinctions between Hindus and Muslims in a speech widely criticised for its incendiary tone and seen as a direct trigger for the attack.

The Pakistani army chief said his country's strength lies in "national unity", adding that it will defeat the "nefarious designs" of its foes.

The remarks by Munir was yet another attempt by the Pakistani army to project the military escalation with India in May as a "victory" and "achievement".

India and Pakistan were engaged in an intense four-day military conflict in May after the armed forces' struck nine terror targets in the neighbouring country as retribution for the Pahalgam attack.

The countries agreed to a ceasefire and stepped back from the brink on May 10 after India's decisive strikes on key airbases in Pakistan prompted the DGMO to reach out to his Indian counterpart.

However, Pakistan projected the military escalation as a victory and propagated exaggerated claims of shooting down multiple Indian jets.

Shortly after the escalation, Munir was elevated to the rank of Field Marshal, the highest position in the Pakistan army. He has since deepened his influence into the civilian government, representing the country at several global meetings. He even met US President Donald Trump for lunch in a bid to boost Islamabad's ties with Washington in the aftermath of Sindoor.
