Frustration is mounting within Pakistan’s military leadership as the conflict with Afghanistan drags on, with Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir reportedly lashing out at DG ISPR Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry and other top generals over the lack of results.

Sources told CNN-News18 that Munir pulled up the Pakistani military leadership over its failure to eliminate any of the top The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) leaders so far in the conlict.

“It’s been 18 days—where are the results of Operation Ghazab lil Haq?” Munir asked Pakistani generals, sources told CNN-News18.

The Field Marshal also raised questions on the competence of the top military generals, who have not been able to eliminate TTP chief Noor Wali Mehsud, seen as Islamabad's "enemy no.1", as well as other top militant leaders, sources said.

Operation Ghazab lil Haq is a Pakistani military offensive launched against Afghan Taliban amid escalating tensions between the neighbouring countries.

It began on February 26, 2026 as retaliation to alleged unprovoked cross-border attacks from TTP.

The conflict between Afghanistan and Pakistan has seen repeated cross-border clashes as well as airstrikes inside Afghanistan, despite international calls for a ceasefire.

Islamabad says that the leadership of militant group Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and many of its fighters are based in Afghanistan, and that armed insurgents seeking independence for the southwestern Pakistani province of Balochistan also use Afghanistan as a safe haven. The Taliban government denies these claims.

Pakistan’s escalating military campaign in Afghanistan has triggered serious allegations of widespread targeting of civilians, with Kabul accusing Islamabad of carrying out indiscriminate strikes that have pushed an already fragile situation into a full-blown humanitarian crisis.

On Monday, Pakistani airstrikes hit a major drug rehabilitation hospital in Kabul, killing at leastg 400 civilians and injuring over 250. It was one of the deadliest incidents in the current phase of the conflict.

Officials described the facility as a civilian medical centre packed with patients and healthcare workers when it was struck.
