Amid Iran-US war, Afghanistan claims precision strikes on Pakistan’s Nur Khan Airbase | WATCH

Afghan officials said the action was carried out in response to recent Pakistani military strikes on Afghan territory, signalling a major escalation in the cross-border confrontation.

Even as the world watches the terrifying events in the Middle East, the ongoing conflict between Kabul and Islamabad took a dramatic turn on Monday morning. In a series of posts on X, Afghanistan's Ministry of Defence claimed its forces carried out precise and coordinated aerial strikes targeting several Pakistani military installations, including the PAF Base Nur Khan in Rawalpindi.

Afghan officials said the action was carried out in response to recent Pakistani military strikes on Afghan territory, signalling a major escalation in the cross-border confrontation.

The ministry's statement described the operations as coordinated and targeted, and said similar strikes also hit the 12th Corps headquarters in Quetta and the Khwazai military camp in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Afghan officials claimed "significant damage" to the intended targets, although Pakistan has not confirmed casualties or damage.

While there has neither been a confirmation nor denial by Islamabad, the afore mentioned attack on Nur Khan Airbase underscores the sharp rise in violence after a series of tit-for-tat air and drone operations between the two neighbours. The developing confrontation has forced both sides to intensify military actions near and across their shared border.
