Mindy and Sajid got married in a Nikah ceremony

A 47-year-old American woman named Mindy Rasmussen travelled to Pakistan to marry 31-year-old Sajid Zeb Khan, who she had met on Facebook last year. Their friendship slowly blossomed into love and they moved from chats to video calls, following which, Mindy proposed marriage to Sajid.

Reports said that Mindy and Sajid got approvals and blessings from their respective families and following that, Mindy travelled to Pakistan to marry Sajid. Mindy reportedly arrived in Pakistan earlier this month and she was received at the Islamabad International Airport by Sajid.

Reports said that Mindy converted to Islam and adopted the name Zulekha, following which, Sajid and she tied the knot in a Nikah ceremony. The wedding reportedly took place in Sajid's hometown in Upper Dir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where the two were welcomed by locals and were greeted with gifts and traditional ceremonies. Local police officials said that the family and the neighbours confirmed that the marriage took place with mutual consent.

Reports said that Mindy has liked Pakistan and has encouraged people to visit and experience the warm hospitality and natural beauty of the country. While speaking about Sajid, Mindy said that he is loving and humble. She also said that her family knows that she has gone to Pakistan to marry Sajid and are excited for her.

"She is an independent woman who can make her own decisions. We are getting married of our own free will," Sajid said, about his wife. Meanwhile, Mindy alias Zulekha also encouraged foreigners to visit Pakistan saying, “I encourage people to visit Pakistan and experience its rich culture, hospitality, and natural beauty
