A day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Adampur Air Base, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif made a similar visit to the airbases at Sialkot and Pasrur—an apparent attempt to mirror PM Modi’s actions.
Both bases had sustained damage in the recent conflict between India and Pakistan. Sharif was accompanied by a high-level delegation, including Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, and other top officials.
Sharif, during his visit, also interacted with Pakistan Air Force (PAF) personnel at the Sialkot airbase. On Wednesday, Prime Minister Modi traveled to Adampur to meet Indian Air Force (IAF) personnel and soldiers who took part in Operation Sindoor, which was launched in response to the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam that claimed the lives of 26 innocent tourists.
Prime Minister Modi’s visit came just three days after India and Pakistan agreed to a ceasefire in military operations following Indian airstrikes on terrorist camps across the border on May 7. New Delhi has clarified that the operation is currently paused, not concluded, and that any future military action will depend on Pakistan’s conduct.
