A 6.3-magnitude earthquake struck Indonesia’s Sumatra island on Thursday, shaking parts of Aceh province, the country’s geophysics agency said.
The quake hit at a depth of 10 kilometres, triggering brief panic among residents. However, authorities confirmed there is no tsunami threat, according to Reuters.
Indonesia lies along the Pacific “Ring of Fire”, a region prone to frequent seismic and volcanic activity.
