Leader of Opposition in the State Assembly V D Satheesan alleged that crores of rupees went to Vijayan’s daughter’s firm while he was chief minister.

While the LDF's invitation to the Congress-led UDF to join the protest was rejected by the opposition, it has received the backing of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin.

Communist Party of India (CPI) leader Binoy Viswam said that all "secular" parties and leaders have been invited to join the protest. "Many of them have responded," he said.
