




While there has been no official word on the agenda of the meeting, reports have suggested that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi would urge leaders to cooperate with the delimitation commission and set the electoral process in motion in Jammu and Kashmir.
The meeting on June 24 in New Delhi is being seen as the first crucial step by the Centre aimed at resuming the political process in the UT after the removal of special status to the erstwhile state on August 5, 2019.
While PM Modi is likely to share the blueprint on restoration of J&K's statehood, the talks on restoring Article 370 have been ruled out, the report said.
Among those invited are four former chief ministers -- Farooq Abdullah and his son Omar Abdullah of the National Conference, senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad, and PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti.
There has been no major political activity in the UT of Jammu and Kashmir since abrogation of the Article 370 on August 5, 2019, except the District Development Council (DDC) elections held in November-December last year.

The eight-phase DDC election assume significance because it was the first electoral exercise held in Jammu and Kashmir union territory after the abrogation of Article 370 and division of the erstwhile state into two union territories on August 5 last year.
While the book value of these attached properties is Rs 11.86 crore, their market value is about Rs 60-70 crore, PTI sources revealed.
The developments come ahead of the crucial election to the District Development Councils, first polls beginning November 28 in the erstwhile state since the abrogation of Article 370.
