Mahayuti, which consists of three major camps, Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde), NCP (Ajit Pawar) and BJP, secured a landslide victory, winning 230 seats in the 288-member assembly.

Fadnavis was speaking to reporters after meeting Governor C P Radhakrishnan who invited him to form the next government. He was accompanied by Shinde and Pawar.

Notably, this will be the sixth time that Ajit Pawar will take oath as the Deputy chief minister of the state.

A six-time MLA who served as the youngest mayor of Nagpur, Fadnavis completed his school education in Nagpur - the second capital of Maharashtra.

He added, “The name of the Maharashtra CM should be declared by today midnight. I have the information that the oath-taking ceremony will be on December 2. Eknath Shinde will not go to Delhi. He is more interested in Maharashtra politics than Delhi politics.”

On Wednesday, Shinde said that he will accept any decision taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the CM face for Maharashtra.

While the new Chief Minister's name has not yet been confirmed, many speculations point towards Fadnavis, who served as the CM between 2014 and 2019, and briefly again in November 2019 after Ajit Pawar's failed rebellion.

Maharashtra CM News Updates: Fadnavis has reportedly secured the backing of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), which strengthens his position as the Mahayuti’s probable choice to lead the state.

While the BJP is tipped to get the chief ministerial post, its two allies -- Shiv Sena Nationalist Congress Party -- are expected to be given the post of two deputies.

Though arithmetically different, the continuing stalemate within the Mahayuti on the question of leadership serves as a reminder of the developments that followed after the 2019 polls.
