X (formerly Twitter) experienced a significant global outage over the past 24 hours, leaving thousands of users unable to access the platform or its features. The disruption appears to have peaked during late evening hours and affected both the app and web versions of the service. Users across various regions reported problems with logging in, viewing content, and refreshing timelines.

Issues users are facing

According to Downdetector data, the majority of complaints—around 77%—were linked to the X app. Users reported that the app either failed to load or remained unresponsive. Another 15% of the reported issues were related to the website, with many saying they were unable to access the homepage or load posts. Server connection issues accounted for 8% of the reports, suggesting backend or infrastructure problems that may have compounded the disruption.

Outage details

Downdetector recorded a sharp rise in problem reports starting around 4 PM IST, with reports peaking between 7 PM and midnight. At the height of the disruption, more than 1,000 users were simultaneously reporting problems. The incident appeared to gradually subside by early morning, with problem reports declining steadily after 5 AM and returning to near-normal levels by 11 AM.

The live outage map also showed hotspots of user-reported issues in key urban regions globally, indicating widespread impact.

The outage was among the more prolonged disruptions faced by the platform in recent months, with users across multiple regions affected over several hours.
