WhatsApp keeps updating its requirements for the app to function properly on smartphones, and this applies to both Android and iOS devices. Recently, the company has updated its support page with details about iOS devices losing support for the app, coming May 5, 2025. According to the page, all iPhones running iOS 15.1 or newer will support, for the rest, WhatsApp will cease to exist.
How to check if your iPhone will lose support for WhatsAppIf you are wondering whether your iPhone will lose WhatsApp support. Then you can follow the steps below to check:
- Open Settings on your iPhone
- Head to General
- Then, tap on About option
- Look for “iOS Version”
If your phone is running anything above iOS 15.0, you are safe, and WhatsApp will continue to work on your device. If not, then you’ll lose support for the app.
What you can doThere are two things you can do at this moment. Check if your phone has received the update. If yes, then update your phone to iOS 15.1 or newer iOS versions.
