WhatsApp has started rolling out a new update for iPhone users that solves one of the biggest problems users were facing while copying texts from the messages. The feature called “Chat message selection” is now rolling out to all WhatsApp users via WhatsApp for iOS version 25.16.81.
What is the Chat message selection feature?
The “What’s New” section on the Apple App Store states, “You can now select and copy parts of a message. To get started, long-press any message and select to highlight text.”
As the name implies, the feature allows users to select a particular area from the received messages, copy and paste as per the requirement.
Earlier, users had to copy the entire message, paste it into Notes and then make the selection to copy a particular area. With the update, that’s not the case anymore.
How to select particular text from messages on WhatsApp
Here’s how the new partial message selection feature works on WhatsApp for iOS:
Update to the latest version of WhatsApp from the App Store.
Open any individual, group, or channel chat.
Tap and hold the message you want to copy from.
The reaction tray and menu will appear.
Slide your finger across the message to highlight specific words or sentences.
Adjust the selection as needed.
Tap Copy from the context menu.
Paste the selected text wherever required.
This feature simplifies copying by letting users highlight only the important part of a message, saving time and effort. It removes the need to copy entire messages and manually edit them. Users can quickly extract relevant text, making the process faster and more efficient across personal, group, and channel chats.
