  • Currently limited to beta testers on iOS and Android platforms

WhatsApp is set to introduce a new sticker suggestion feature, which is aimed at making chatting faster and more intuitive by eliminating the need to manually open and browse for relevant stickers in the sticker panel. This new feature update is currently reaching a limited group of iOS users through the latest beta version of the app after appearing in testing for WhatsApp Android users previously. This means that we could see a wider release for the smart sticker suggestion tool soon.

WhatsApp tests sticker suggestions through emoji metadata

According to a report by WhatsApp beta tester WABetaInfo, the purported sticker suggestions feature has been spotted in WhatsApp beta for iOS version 26.1.10.72, which is currently available through Apple’s TestFlight app. Through this tool, users will be able to find relevant stickers based on the type of emoji in the chat box. This means that WhatsApp may suggest a matching sticker based on the emoji’s meaning or emotion.

If a match exists, the app will display the suitable sticker options near the text bar, allowing users to send a relevant sticker with a single tap. This process reduces the number of steps needed to send stickers and helps users respond faster while typing in chats. Moreover, by placing sticker suggestions directly in the typing area, WhatsApp aims to keep the conversation flowing freely, without looking for suitable stickers all the time.

At present, this sticker suggestion feature remains available only to a small number of beta testers on both iOS and Android platforms. The sticker suggestion feature also does not work with stickers created using WhatsApp’s own built-in sticker creation tool, as the tool currently does not yet support emoji associations. However, this limitation is likely to be addressed soon, as the feature is officially released to all users in the coming weeks or months.
