Vivo is set to disrupt the flagship foldable smartphone market with the X Fold 5, which is expected to launch later this month in China. The company has not revealed any official information about the purported handset, but both the Chinese and global variants of the X Fold 5 have received several certifications. A new leak also claims it to be cheaper than the existing Vivo X Fold 3 Pro.
Vivo X Fold 5: Expected features, price
According to a Weibo post by tipster Panda is Very Bald, the upcoming Vivo X Fold 5 Pro will come with a 6,000 mAh battery and support 90W wired and 30W wireless charging. If true, then the X Fold 5 would become one of the first foldables to house such a large battery pack. Further, the foldable could be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset with up to 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.
In terms of display, it is expected to house an 8.03-inch main foldable 2K+ AMOLED screen and a 6.53-inch LTPO OLED cover display. Both panels are likely to support a 120Hz refresh rate. The X Fold 5 could pack dual 32MP selfie cameras, one on the cover display and another on the inside. The rear camera module is rumoured to include a 50MP Sony IMX921 primary sensor, a 50MP ultra-wide lens with autofocus, and a 50MP IMX882 periscope telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom.
The Weibo tipster also added that the Vivo X Fold 5 is expected to be cheaper than the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro, which was launched in China in March 2024 at a starting price of CNY 9,999 (around Rs 1,16,000). Recent reports have also revealed that it could launch in India next month alongside the Vivo X200 FE.
