The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has partnered with Google to display authorised Aadhaar centres on Google Maps, aiming to help residents locate verified centres and access services more easily.

The facility, announced on February 26 by the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology, will enable people across the country to search and find their nearest authorised Aadhaar centres directly on Google Maps. The feature is expected to roll out in the coming months.

Under this collaboration, users searching for Aadhaar-related services on Google Maps will be directed to verified centres managed by UIDAI. The move is designed to improve ease of access, reduce misinformation, and ensure residents visit only authorised facilities.

UIDAI operates over 60,000 Aadhaar centres nationwide, including Aadhaar Seva Kendras (ASKs). With this integration, these centres will be digitally mapped and visible to users in a structured and verified format.

Services and accessibility details

Google Maps will display Aadhaar centres based on the type of services offered. This includes adult enrolment, child enrolment, and specific services such as address updates or mobile number updates.

In addition to service categories, the listing will provide operational details such as opening hours and, where available, information about accessibility features. These may include divyang-friendly infrastructure and parking facilities, helping residents plan their visits better.

UIDAI CEO Bhuvnesh Kumar said the collaboration is focused on improving ease of living for Aadhaar number holders by making it simpler and more transparent to locate authorised centres.

In a subsequent phase, UIDAI will use Google Business Profile to manage centre information and respond to public feedback. This is expected to create a more responsive and transparent service ecosystem.

The partnership will also explore enabling direct appointment booking through the Google Maps interface in the future. If implemented, residents may be able to schedule their Aadhaar-related visits directly within the app, further streamlining access to essential identity services.
