Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Shadows could be coming to the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, according to a recently deleted listing from French retailer Auchan. The post, which was spotted by a Reddit user and shared on the r/GamingLeaksAndRumours subreddit, reportedly included box art and platform information for the action-adventure game.
The listing did not mention pricing, but indicated that the title would be sold as a Game-Key Card. This format does not include the full game on the cartridge itself; instead, players must download the complete game online after purchase, meaning an internet connection is required to play.
The use of Game-Key Cards on Switch 2 has already generated discussion among fans. These cards function more like digital licences than traditional physical copies, which can limit offline access. Ubisoft previously used the same approach for Star Wars Outlaws on Switch 2, drawing mixed reactions from players who prefer owning a tangible copy of the game.
The brief appearance of the Auchan listing has reignited speculation that Ubisoft may officially announce Assassin’s Creed Shadows for Switch 2 soon. The publisher had hinted in July that “new versions” of the game were in development for “other machines,” though it did not specify platforms at the time.
This is not the first indication of a Switch 2 release. In April, the PEGI ratings board temporarily listed the console as a supported platform for Assassin’s Creed Shadows before the entry was removed, fuelling further rumours.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows originally launched on 20 March 2025 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. Ubisoft reported during its first-quarter FY2025–26 earnings call that the game had attracted over five million unique players, marking a successful launch for the title.
