Uber now lets you pay for your ride by scanning a UPI QR code: Here’s how the new feature works

Uber has just rolled out a new way to pay for your rides- UPI Scan and Pay, a simple and secure payment option that lets you clear your fare with just a quick scan.

Here’s how it works. When booking a ride, you’ll now see an option called “UPI Scan and Pay” on the payment screen. Select it before you start your trip. Once you reach your destination, your driver will show you a QR code on their Uber app. Just open any UPI-enabled app like Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, or BHIM, scan the code, and pay the exact amount shown in the Uber app.

Uber is stressing one important point, only scan the QR code that appears on your driver’s Uber app, not their personal one. This ensures your payment goes directly to Uber and stays secure.

The idea behind UPI Scan and Pay is to make digital payments smoother for both riders and drivers. You don’t need to worry about linking your UPI account to Uber or setting up auto-pay. Instead, you can just scan and pay at the end of each ride quick, easy, and safe.

Uber says the feature is designed for speed, convenience, and security. It eliminates the hassle of carrying cash or waiting for card transactions to go through. Plus, because you’re paying directly to Uber through the app’s system, there’s less risk of errors or fraud.

So the next time you book an Uber, try choosing UPI Scan and Pay. It’s an easy way to make your rides truly cashless and stress-free.
