Apple has done it again — the iPhone 16 is officially the best-selling smartphone in the world for the first quarter of 2025. According to a new report from Counterpoint Research, Apple’s latest iPhone topped global sales in the first quarter of 2025. This is the first time in two years that the base iPhone model has made it to the number one spot in Q1, which makes the win even more impressive.
People clearly love what Apple has done with the iPhone 16. It’s got the sleek design, reliable performance, and that overall Apple experience that keeps users coming back for more.
Samsung also made it to the top 10, but its Galaxy S25 Ultra didn’t perform as strongly this time. It came in at number seven, slipping a couple of spots compared to the S24 Ultra’s performance last year.
Xiaomi also made its mark with the Redmi 14C. It’s the only phone in the top 10 that isn’t made by Apple or Samsung. It’s super affordable and doing especially well in regions like the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America.
Budget smartphones in general are gaining momentum. Phones priced under 100 dollars were the fastest-growing segment in the first quarter and now account for nearly 20 percent of global smartphone sales. So while high-end phones continue to shine, a lot of people are choosing value over flashy features.
Another highlight from Apple is the iPhone 16e. It was launched recently and has already climbed to number six in the global rankings for March.
Overall, it’s clear that Apple is leading the pack once again, but the growing demand for budget phones is a trend worth watching. Whether you want the latest flagship or a phone that just gets the job done, there’s something for everyone in today’s market.
