'Tap, hold and load in 4K' trend goes viral on X: What it is and how it works

The Internet is a weird place and sometimes most absurd things go viral. A new term “Tap, hold and load in 4K” has taken over social media as 2025 begins. Now, if you are wondering what that means? Well, it is a simple Twitter feature which has turned into a huge trend across the internet. Users can simply tap and hold a photo on the app to download it in 4K resolution.

What is Tap, Hold and Load in 4K trend?

Now, this feature is not something new. It was always there. In fact, the feature in question has existed since 2020. But it mostly stayed unnoticed. However, on January 8,2025, a user posted pictures with caption, “I bet y’all didn’t even tap n hold n hit ‘load in 4K.’” That post gathered a lot of attention, and within days, it spread like wildfire.

This trend has now been joined by the popular handles like FIFA World Cup, FC Barcelona, and Star Wars. FIFA  has also shared a photo on X from the 2022 World Cup with the caption “Tap, hold and load in 4K.” FC Barcelona alsp posted a picture of Lamine Yamal, while Star Wars shared a high-quality image of Anakin Skywalker.

Not only the popular sports and movies handles. Some of the airline's brand, gaming titles have also participated in the 4K trend. Companies like Turkish Airlines, Manchester United, Assassin’s Creed, and even Minions have also encouraged their followers to join the 4K trend.
