Apple’s long-running battle with leakers doesn’t seem to be slowing down. Apple, which is currently suing YouTuber and tipster Jon Prosser over alleged leaks related to iOS 26 and its new Liquid Glass design language, is once again dealing with fresh leaks from the same source. This time, Prosser has shared what he claims are early renders of the iPhone 18 Pro, months ahead of its expected launch.
According to Prosser, Apple is planning a slightly unusual launch cycle for its 2026 lineup. He claims the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max will arrive alongside Apple’s long-rumoured foldable iPhone. Meanwhile, the regular iPhone 18 may be pushed to a much later spring 2027 launch. There could also be a pause on the iPhone Air lineup, with Prosser suggesting that poor sales of the first ultra-thin model may delay the Air 2 until 2027.
Design-wise, Prosser says the iPhone 18 Pro will look very similar to the upcoming iPhone 17 Pro, but with some fresh colour options in testing, including burgundy, brown, and purple. Internally, the phone is expected to run on a faster A20 Pro chip. On the camera side, Prosser claims Apple is experimenting with a variable aperture system for the main camera, a feature that allows the lens to physically open and close to control light intake and background blur. However, he also cautions that this feature could end up being exclusive to the Pro Max model or scrapped altogether before launch.
Another reported change is a simplified Camera Control button. Instead of combining touch gestures and pressure sensitivity, Apple may stick to pressure-only input, which could mean losing swipe-based camera controls seen on recent iPhones.
Prosser also claims Apple will finally ditch Qualcomm modems in favour of its own C2 modem, while adding 5G connectivity via satellite, similar to what Apple already offers on its latest Apple Watch models.
The most controversial leak, however, involves the front display. Prosser suggests the selfie camera could shift from the centre to the top-left corner, giving the phone a look more commonly associated with Android devices like the Google Pixel 5. Many believe this is likely a misunderstanding, with reports indicating Apple may only move the flood illuminator under the display, while keeping the main Face ID components centred in a smaller cutout.
As always, leaks should be taken with caution. Prosser himself has been wrong before, notably with his predictions around the Apple Watch Series 7 design. For now, nothing is official until Apple says so. Expect more rumours to surface as the September launch window slowly approaches.
Interestingly, variable aperture cameras aren’t new. Samsung experimented with the feature on the Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S10, before quietly dropping it later. Whether Apple can make it work where others couldn’t remains to be seen.
