Sid Meier's Civilization 7 VR is set to launch in Spring 2025 exclusively on Meta Quest 3 and 3S, the developers announced in a website post. This is the first time a game from the Civilization series has been developed for the VR/MR platform. Civilization 7 VR is developed by Australian video game developer PlaySide Studios and published by 2K Games.
In Civilization 7 VR, you can play alone or take part in competitive online multiplayer matches with up to three other Meta Quest 3 and 3S players. To play against other players in online multiplayer, you need a stable Internet connection, a 2K Account and a Meta account.
With a new game interface designed for Meta Quest 3 and 3S, Sid Meier’s Civilization VII VR lets you “admire your civilization from any angle or distance, and bring the Command Table into your surroundings with dynamic mixed reality”, the developers noted in the post.
Civilization 7 VR makes for an enhanced immersion into the empire you build and expand. For example, the Meta Quest controllers allow you to zoom in and out of the world map easily and move your units across the map. The Civilization VR/MR experience also allows the player to stand shoulder to shoulder with renowned world leaders at the Command Table and make their diplomatic moves.
You can wishlist Sid Meier's Civilization VII - VR on Meta’s website. We’ll get the confirmed release date as Spring 2025 comes closer. Also, in case you didn't know, Civilization VII is available on PC as well as Mac, apart from consoles.
