Phone thefts are on the rise, and to combat that, Samsung is urging Galaxy users to enable its new theft protection features, which were recently rolled out with the One UI 7 OS update. These added security features will help users to better protect their data and their devices. Moreover, the update introduces a layered defense system that leverages AI-powered theft detection, remote locking capabilities, biometric protection, and the recent critical security patches to safeguard a user’s smartphone.

Samsung’s new anti-theft features: Key details

In a newsroom post, Samsung detailed that it is expanding the list of devices that are getting the updated anti-theft features and the new anti-robbery features with the One UI 7 update. These features were initially released to the Samsung Galaxy S25 series, and in the last few months, have been added to the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy S23 series, and Galaxy S22 series. Moreover, the company’s latest foldable smartphones, such as the Galaxy Z Fold 6, Z Flip 6, Z Fold 5, and Z Flip 5, also received this update.

The new Theft Protection features in One UI 7 include Theft Detection Lock, Offline Device Lock, and Remote Lock. Further, the company has added new anti-robbery features such as Identity Check and Security Delay. To enable any of the above features, eligible Galaxy smartphone users need to head to Settings and access the Theft Protection tool.

Samsung has confirmed that all of these features will be available to more Galaxy phones soon. These features build on the standard Android safety protection from Google, but take security a step further by introducing additional protection for high-risk scenarios when your access credentials or offline security features can be compromised.
