After Huawei’s recent unveiling of the Mate XTs Ultimate trifold smartphone earlier this month, Samsung’s first tri-fold smartphone, rumoured to be named Galaxy Z TriFold, is almost ready for premiere as well. Many reports previously suggested that the device could be unveiled initially in China and South Korea, as Samsung will produce it in limited quantities, which may suffice only for these two regions. Well, a new report now suggests that Samsung is considering launching the Galaxy Z TriFold in the US as well.
Samsung’s tri-fold smartphone tipped to launch in the US: Report
According to CNN Business, which cites a person close to the company’s plans, Samsung is still evaluating in which countries the brand should launch the first Galaxy phone with a tri-folding display, and the United States is part of the conversation. If Samsung were to launch the phone simultaneously in Asia and the Western markets, it would be a slight departure from some of its previous product launches for lesser-selling devices, which were initially only sold in China and South Korea, like last year’s Galaxy Z Fold 6 SE.
If Samsung goes ahead with a full-scale US launch of the Galaxy Z TriFold smartphone, it would mark a significant milestone for the broader smartphone industry in the US market, which has been starved of innovative triple-folding smartphones for a while. Huawei has already released the second generation of its tri-fold phone. However, it still doesn’t sell its products in the US market.
New leaks also suggest that the purported Galaxy Z TriFold smartphone will feature a 9.96-inch tri-folding display and a 6.49-inch cover display. It is expected to be the most radical change to Samsung’s smartphone lineup since the company launched its first foldable smartphone, the Galaxy Fold, in 2019.
