Samsung has been teasing its new style of foldable with three inner screen faces in the last few months, and the company also showcased a working prototype at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025 event. While the company has been tight-lipped about the release of this foldable so far, recent developments suggest that a launch is not too far away. Further, this triple foldable could mark its entry under the existing Galaxy Z series naming.
Samsung’s tri-fold smartphone: Expected name, launch details
According to a recent trademark filing spotted by GalaxyClub, the triple-screen foldable is likely to adopt the Galaxy Z TriFold branding, which puts it in the same umbrella as Samsung’s established foldable range, including the Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip models. While this doesn’t confirm the final branding, it does give us a strong clue about the smartphone’s naming scheme by the Korean tech giant.
Moreover, renowned tipster Ice Universe has tipped that Samsung is planning to release this tri-fold device in October 2025. Multiple reports suggest that it’s codenamed Q7M, and is reportedly advancing towards mass production. Initially, it could be unveiled as a limited release, and previous leaks have hinted that the device could feature a 10-inch display that folds inward in two places, using Samsung’s flexible OLED tech.
The device could be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and is tipped to include a silicon-carbon battery, which would mean it offers faster charging and longer battery capacity compared to traditional lithium-ion cells. On the imaging front, the Galaxy Z TriFold could house a triple rear camera setup, with support for up to 8K video recording.
