After a long wait, Samsung recently started the One UI 7 rollout for its smartphones and tablets. However, a new report from Android Authority suggest that Samsung has paused the global rollout of its Android 15-based One UI 7 update, just days after it began reaching Galaxy devices. The update, which started rolling out to the Galaxy S24 series on April 7 and reached the US by April 10, has been abruptly halted due to a “serious bug” reported by early users.
The issue first surfaced in South Korea, where users on Samsung’s forums and tipster Ice Universe flagged that the Galaxy S24 series devices were facing problems with unlocking post-update. In response, Samsung reportedly pulled the firmware from its over-the-air (OTA) servers in multiple countries.
What’s the bug?
According to Ice Universe and other sources, the bug affects the device unlocking process, potentially locking users out of their phones. While the problem initially appeared limited to Exynos 2400-powered Galaxy S24 models, newer reports confirm the update has also been paused for Snapdragon variants globally.
What devices are affected?
According to the report, the halt affects not only the Galaxy S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra, but also Samsung’s latest foldables—the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6. Concerns are now growing over whether this disruption will delay the broader rollout of One UI 7 to older Galaxy phones such as the Galaxy S23 series and Galaxy Z Fold 5.
Should you be worried?
If your device hasn’t received the update yet, the pause is likely the reason. For users who have already installed One UI 7, Samsung is expected to release a follow-up patch to fix the issue. Until then, no immediate action is required unless you encounter specific problems with unlocking. Samsung has not officially acknowledged the bug or shared a revised timeline for the update as of now.
