Samsung has announced the launch of SmartThings Family Care in India, expanding the capabilities of its SmartThings platform to help families remotely monitor and support their loved ones through connected home appliances.
The feature integrates with Samsung’s SmartThings ecosystem and works with compatible Bespoke AI home appliances, enabling users to receive intelligent alerts and activity updates based on appliance usage patterns. Samsung said the service is designed to simplify household management while helping families stay informed about the well-being of relatives living independently.
With increasing urban migration and busy lifestyles, many people live away from their parents or elderly family members. Samsung says SmartThings Family Care aims to bridge that gap by providing a way to stay connected and informed through everyday home appliances connected to the SmartThings platform.
The system works by recognising routine appliance usage patterns through connected devices such as refrigerators, washing machines and other Samsung Bespoke AI appliances. Based on these patterns, SmartThings Family Care can send notifications to users if certain activities occur or if expected routines are not followed.
The service also includes additional features such as medication reminders, appointment alerts, and location-based notifications, helping family members track important daily routines and ensure the safety of elderly relatives.
Samsung says the feature allows family members to share device access through the SmartThings app, creating a connected support network where multiple users can monitor household activity and stay updated on their loved ones’ well-being.
The company highlighted that family and inter-generational care remain central to Indian culture, and SmartThings Family Care aims to support these values through technology. By combining connected devices with intelligent alerts, Samsung hopes to make it easier for people to care for family members even when they live far apart.
SmartThings Family Care is part of Samsung’s broader vision of creating intelligent connected homes powered by the SmartThings ecosystem. The platform, which is available in more than 200 countries, connects devices across the home to deliver convenience, automation and energy efficiency.
With this launch, Samsung continues to expand the capabilities of its Bespoke AI appliance lineup and strengthen its connected home ecosystem in India.
