Samsung has finally unveiled the Galaxy S25 series, the line-up includes the S25, S25 Plus as well as S25 Ultra. While all three phones are premium, flagship devices, they all come at different price points and have been designed for people with specific needs. Some users prefer large phones so for them the Galaxy S25 Ultra and the S25 Plus serve the purpose. Whereas some users prefer compact devices so for them S25 is the perfect pick. Now, we cannot really talk about compact phones without mentioning the iPhone 16, which is Galaxy 25's strongest contender in the market. Design and build quality
The Samsung Galaxy S25 has a compact form factor. It offers a premium and sleek design. The phone comes in different colourways such as Icy Blue, Mint, Coral Red, and Pink Gold.
It features an aluminum frame and a AMOLED display. The phone is pretty lightweight,with dimensions of 146.9 x 70.5 x 7.2 mm and a weight of just 162 g.
The iPhone 16, on the other hand, flaunts Apple’s iconic aluminum design with a Ceramic Shield front. It is available in Black, White, Pink, Teal, and Ultramarine colour options. The iPhone 16 is slightly heavier at 170 g than the Galaxy S25 but is quite comfortable to hold.
Both phones are IP68-rated for water and dust resistance, but the iPhone offers protection for up to 6 meters for 30 minutes, compared to Samsung’s unspecified depth.
Display
The Galaxy S25 features a 6.2-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a resolution of 2340 x 1080 (FHD+) and a 120 Hz refresh rate.
The iPhone 16 with a slightly smaller 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR display, with a resolution of 2556 x 1179 at 460 ppi. It offers peak brightness of up to 2000 nits and comes with support for HDR10 and Dolby Vision.
Performance
The Galaxy S25 is powered by Snapdragon 8 Elite processor paired with 12 GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage.
The iPhone 16 houses the Apple’s A18 chip, which is currently the most powerful processor found in a smartphone.
Cameras
In the camera department, the Galaxy S25 features a triple camera setup at the rear, which includes a 50 MP main sensor (f/1.8), 10 MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom, 12 MP ultra-wide. It also supports 8K video recording at 30 fps and slow-motion capture at up to 240 fps.
The iPhone 16, on the other hand, features a dual-camera system. It comes with a 48 MP main sensor (f/1.6) along with a 12 MP ultra-wide (f/2.2)
It also supports 4K Dolby Vision recording and cinematic modes up to 4K at 30 fps.
Battery Life and charging
The Galaxy S25 houses a 4,000 mAh battery. The company promises up to 29 hours of video playback. It supports fast charging via USB-C, wireless charging, and reverse wireless charging.
Apple does not disclose the battery capacity of its iPhones but the iPhone 16 promises to offer up to22 hours of video playback and supports MagSafe charging at 25W and Qi2 wireless charging up to 15W
Storage options
The Galaxy S25 comes in various storage options including 128 GB, 256 GB, and 512 GB variants. All models support dual SIM and eSIM configurations.
The iPhone 16 offers three options such as 128 GB, 256 GB, and 512 GB. However, there’s no expandable storage.
Software
The Galaxy S25 runs on Android with Samsung’s One UI. The software provides host of customisable options and is packed with features like DeX for desktop-like functionality.
The iPhone 16 runs iOS 18, which comes with Apple Intelligence.
Price
The Galaxy S25 is available in two storage options:12GB + 256GB: Rs 80,999 and 12GB + 512GB: Rs 92,999. The iPhone 16 on the other hand, starts at Rs 79,900 for the 128GB variant, 89,900 for the 256GB variant.
Verdict
Both the iPhone 16 and Galaxy S25 are premium offerings. It all depends on your preferences. If you are an existing Apple user, iPhone 16 would make a lot of sense to you.
