Replit has introduced a new AI-powered feature that allows users to create iPhone apps using simple text prompts. The tool is designed to reduce the technical barriers associated with app development by removing the need for coding knowledge, dedicated development hardware, or long build cycles. According to the company, users can move from an idea to a functional iPhone app in minutes by describing what they want the app to do in plain language.

How Replit AI builds iPhone apps

The new feature, called Mobile Apps on Replit, works through a conversational interface. Users type a description of the app they want to create, such as a data tracker or utility app. Replit’s AI agent then generates the app’s structure, interface, and core logic automatically. The platform also sets up the backend and database, showing progress in real time.

Once the initial version is ready, users can refine the app by continuing the conversation. Features can be added or modified by asking the AI to make changes, instead of manually editing code. Replit also saves checkpoints during development, allowing users to revert to earlier versions if required.

Monetisation and testing options

Replit supports monetisation through built-in integration with Stripe. This allows developers to add subscriptions or payments without setting up external systems. As a result, creators and small businesses can launch paid apps without hiring developers or managing complex payment infrastructure.

For testing, apps can be previewed directly within Replit. Mobile testing is supported through the Expo Go app, which lets users scan a QR code and run the app on an iPhone. This enables quick feedback before submitting the app for review.

App Store rules and security concerns

Although Replit simplifies development, all apps must still comply with Apple’s App Store policies. Each app needs to be submitted for review and must meet Apple’s requirements related to privacy, security, and user data handling. Approval timelines and rejection risks remain unchanged.

Security remains a concern for AI-generated apps. Recent studies have shown that some AI-built applications may include weak security practices. Replit allows users to review and edit generated code, but responsibility for ensuring security and compliance ultimately lies with the app creator.

Getting started with Replit AI

Users can begin by creating a Replit account and starting a new app project. While basic access is available, building full-featured apps may require a paid Replit plan. Once published, apps can be submitted to Apple for distribution through the App Store.
