The PlayStation Network (PSN) experienced a major outage on Friday evening, disrupting online gaming, account management, and purchases for thousands of users worldwide. The outage began around 6 PM EST on Friday, February 7, and has affected services such as multiplayer gaming, party chat, the PlayStation Store, and account management.
On its Status page, Sony said that “You might have difficulty launching games, apps or network features. We're working to resolve the issue as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience.” Similar messages were posted for PS Store and account management.
The company hasn’t commented on what has caused the global outage. On one of its social media page, Sony noted, “We are aware some users might be currently experiencing issues with PSN,” but hasn’t given any official reason. Sony has not given any timeline on when the issues might be fixed.
