After launching its AI-web browser Comet on PC, Mac and Android, Perplexity has finally expanded its availability of the browser for iPhone. The new browser is designed to combine traditional web browsing with built-in artificial intelligence tools, positioning itself as an alternative to existing mobile browsers.

In terms of features the Comet browser integrates AI-driven search, chat, and productivity features directly into the browsing experience. Unlike conventional browsers that rely on separate apps or services for AI tasks, Comet embeds these capabilities within the interface.

One of the key features is the built-in Assistant, which allows users to perform tasks such as summarising articles, gathering information, and generating responses without switching apps. The browser also includes tools for research and content understanding, enabling users to extract key insights from web pages.

Voice chat and interaction

Comet introduces a voice mode that allows users to interact with the browser using spoken queries. Users can ask questions and receive responses while continuing to browse, making it easier to multitask.

The voice feature works across tabs, allowing continuous interaction without interrupting workflow. This approach aims to replicate a conversational experience within the browser itself.

Search and productivity tools

The browser offers a hybrid search experience, combining traditional search results with AI-generated answers. This is intended to deliver quick responses for common queries while also supporting deeper research tasks.

Comet also supports features such as bookmarking and extensions, built on a Chromium-based framework. This ensures compatibility with widely used tools while adding AI-driven enhancements for productivity.

How it differs from traditional browsers

Unlike browsers such as Safari or Chrome, Comet focuses on integrating AI into every stage of browsing. It allows users to automate tasks, summarise information, and manage workflows directly within the browser environment.

Perplexity positions Comet as an AI-first browser that merges search, assistant functions, and productivity tools into a single platform.

Availability

The Comet browser is now available for iPhone users. The rollout marks Perplexity’s entry into the mobile browser space with a focus on AI-powered experiences.
