Fantasy action role-playing game Monster Hunter Wilds is off to a tremendous start, with over 8 million copies sold within 3 days of launch, Capcom announced on its website. With this milestone, Monster Hunter Wilds has become Capcom’s fastest-selling game.
As per SteamDB, Monster Hunter Wilds achieved an all-time concurrent peak of 1,384,608 four days ago and a 24-hour peak of 1,179,869. At the time of writing this article, 518,166 people were playing the game on Steam alone.
Capcom’s promotional strategy to bring its new monster slaying game to a broad audience across the globe seems to have contributed to the initial sales. Besides showcasing Monster Hunter Wilds at global video game events, the Japanese game publisher invited people worldwide to an online open beta test for Monster Hunter Wilds so that they could experience the third-person action RPG before the release of the final game build. Capcom also held online events like the Monster Hunter Wilds Showcase, where the developers provided updates on the game. Capcom believes that “these continuous global initiatives” have helped Monster Hunter Wilds evoke “massive excitement” and top 8 million sales within 3 days of launch.
However, as of now, the overall reviews for Monster Hunter Wilds on Steam (over 70,300 reviews) are mixed, with 59% of them being positive. A bunch of players claim to have faced optimisation issues in the game. There have been reports of bugs and crashes. A patch for Monster Hunter Wilds that fixes these issues could be what the game needs.
