OnePlus could launch its second-generation foldable phone, presumably called the OnePlus Open 2, earlier than expected. Many reports and leaks suggested that the Open 2 will be launched by the second half of 2025, with the company expected to release the foldable early next year.
OnePlus Open 2: Expected release date, specifications
The upcoming OnePlus Open 2 is tipped to be a rebranded Oppo Find N5, which is expected to be released in the coming weeks. Oppo’s product manager, Zhou Yibao, also confirmed in a social media interaction with a user that it will launch soon. There is no official launch date, but it is rumored to be released in the first quarter of 2025.
As for its hardware, the Open 2 could be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC and would be one of the first foldable to be powered by Qualcomm’s flagship chipset. Further, it could carry a 50MP triple camera setup. One of these could be a circular periscope telephoto lens, with up to 3x optical zoom support.
The OnePlus Open 2 is also rumored to feature foldable displays with 2K+ resolution. Further, it could also support 3-stage wireless charging with dual-cell batteries. As for its design, the phone could have a narrower frame and a thinner and lighter build with glass and leather back options, just like its predecessor.
