  • No gaming PC needed; games stream from Nvidia's remote servers

Nvidia has rolled out its GeForce Now cloud gaming app for Amazon Fire TV Stick devices, expanding access to PC game streaming on large screens. The move allows users to play supported titles from existing game libraries without dedicated gaming hardware. The app connects with accounts across platforms such as Steam and other supported services, turning compatible Fire TV models into cloud-powered gaming hubs.

The service streams games from Nvidia’s servers, meaning users do not need high-end PCs or consoles at home. All processing is handled remotely, with gameplay delivered in real time over the internet.

Supported devices and performance

The GeForce Now app currently works on Fire TV Stick 4K Plus (2nd generation) and Fire TV Stick 4K Max (1st and 2nd generation). Nvidia says the service supports streaming at up to 1080p resolution at 60 frames per second, along with stereo audio output.

Players can connect controllers using Bluetooth or USB adapters, including popular console-style gamepads. The setup is designed to be similar to launching streaming apps on Fire TV, with users logging into their GeForce Now account and linking supported game platforms.

Competition in cloud gaming

With this launch, Nvidia strengthens its presence in the growing cloud gaming market on smart TVs and streaming devices. The GeForce Now app now directly competes with services such as Amazon Luna and Xbox Cloud Gaming, both of which already support Fire TV hardware in select regions.

Nvidia has also added new titles to the GeForce Now library, including games like Kingdom Come: Deliverance along with classic releases from Capcom. These additions aim to broaden the playable catalog for subscribers.

What it means for Fire TV users

The arrival of GeForce Now turns Fire TV Stick devices into multi-purpose entertainment systems that go beyond video streaming. Users with stable high-speed internet can access PC-grade games without upgrading hardware, making cloud gaming more accessible in living rooms.

As competition grows among cloud gaming platforms, users are likely to see wider game libraries, better streaming quality, and more device compatibility in the months ahead.
