The Nothing Phone (3) is coming in July, and the company is finally doing something many users have been asking for, longer software support, just like Google and Samsung.
Nothing co-founder Akis Evangelidis recently shared that the Phone (3) will run on the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chip. While the chip itself is powerful—faster performance and better graphics—that’s not the most interesting part. What really matters is what this chip makes possible: better and longer-lasting software support.
With the Phone (3), Nothing is promising five years of Android updates and seven years of security patches. That’s a big improvement from the Phone (2), which only got three years of Android updates and four years of security fixes.
Evangelidis explained that this was one of the main reasons they chose this chip—it gives the company a better path to offer long-term support for the phone. In his words, it’s the difference between “5 & 7” and “4 & 4”.
This move puts Nothing in the same club as big names like Google Pixel and Samsung Galaxy, which already offer longer software support. For users, this means you’ll be able to hold on to your phone for longer without worrying about missing out on updates or falling behind on security.
More details about the Phone (3) are expected soon, but this is a clear sign that Nothing is getting serious—not just about cool designs, but about making phones that stay useful for years.
