Minecraft’s final update of the year, the ‘Mounts of Mayhem’ drop, has finally arrived, with fresh mobs, mounts, and a combat-focused experience. It is the final drop of the year for the game and is now rolling out across Minecraft: Bedrock Edition and Minecraft: Java Edition platforms. While some Minecraft players have already had the chance to test some of the new features through Beta previews, the official release of ‘Mounts of Mayhem’ brings the latest content to all.

The ‘Mounts of Mayhem’ update introduces a full crafting tier lineup, including new weapons, mounts, mobs, and other minor changes. It also adds several new features and updates related to riding animals in the game. For starters, a spear has been added as a melee weapon with extended minimum and maximum reach, and can be crafted with wood, stone, copper, iron, gold, diamond, or netherite.

The spear includes two attack styles: Jab Attack – a quick stabbing attack, and Charge Attack – a powerful strike that deals more damage with increased speed and momentum, ideal for jousting on horseback. This update also focuses heavily on combat and mounts. Moreover, a new mounted combat allows you to joust against your friends on horseback, where you have the jab attack to stab your enemy or a charge attack, where you lower your spear and attack with more damage.

Another major addition in this new ‘Mounts of Mayhem’ update is the Nautilus, which is an underwater creature based on the seashells and can be tamed and mounted for underwater travel. It can be used underwater for manoeuvring faster than swimming, and it'll also preserve your air supply. With a new weapon, underwater mounts, deadly new mobs, and various upgrades for horse lovers, the ‘Mounts of Mayhem’ drop injects fresh excitement into Minecraft’s core gameplay.
