Meta has announced an update to its Account Center. It will now add WhatsApp to the platform, a report by Endgadget reveals. So what does this mean for regular users? Well, users will be able to share content, like statuses, across apps and manage log-ins easily.
So currently you have the option of sharing your Instagram stories and reels on Facebook. With this new update, you will be able to share the same on WhatsApp as well. While this will make things a lot easier, Meta has assured that it will not fiddle with WhatsApp’s end-to-end encryption as that will remain unchanged.
What is an Accounts Center?
Accounts Center is not a new feature, it has always been there. In simple terms, it is a hub where you can link all your Meta accounts such as your Facebook, Instagram and now WhatsApp accounts. It helps manage the three apps better. With WhatsApp joining the fray, you will no longer have to juggle multiple apps. One post or story will be shared to all the three platforms. You will also get an option to turn off sharing for a particular app if you have different audiences.
Apart from the convenience of sharing the same posts on all platforms, you will also get the single sign-on option for WhatsApp. This means that if you ever lose access to your account, you will be able to use your Accounts Center credentials to log back in quickly. You will no longer have to deal with the lengthy recovery process through WhatsApp.
