Google’s annual Made by Google showcase is almost here, as on August 20, the company is set to unveil its next generation of hardware products with some important AI updates. This includes a refreshed Pixel 10 series, Watch 4, Pixel Buds 2a, and other accessories. Further, Google could sprinkle in some Gemini AI tricks.
Google Pixel 10 series
The Pixel 10 family is expected to consist of four models: Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and Pixel 10 Pro Fold. All devices are expected to be running on the Google Tensor G5 processor, which is manufactured using TSMC’s 3nm fabrication. For cameras, the Google Pixel 10 Pro and Pixel 10 Pro XL might get a triple rear camera setup consisting of a 50MP primary sensor, a 48MP ultra-wide sensor, and a 12MP telephoto sensor. Meanwhile, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold will likely have a 48MP primary lens, 10.8MP telephoto lens, and a 10.5MP ultra-wide-angle lens.
Google Pixel Watch 4
The upcoming Pixel Watch 4 series is set to retain the company’s traditional circular design, with the company reportedly introducing a revamped charging system dubbed ‘Quick Charge Dock,’ with side-located charging pins and supporting quicker charging speeds. Moreover, the series could provide up to 40 hours of battery life, thanks to larger capacity batteries. The display is also rumoured to provide up to 3,000 nits peak brightness.
Google Pixel Buds 2a
Google’s affordable earbuds are also due for significant upgrades, as the upcoming Pixel Buds 2a will come with Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) support and provide battery life of up to seven hours with ANC and 20 hours with the case. Additionally, the earbuds may also include support for Spatial Audio.
Pixelsnap accessories
Google could also introduce a Pixelsnap ecosystem, with support for Qi2 wireless charging across the Pixel 10 series, which might include magnetic chargers and protective cases. Leaked renders of a Pixelsnap Charger suggest a circular design that aligns with internal magnets in the Pixel 10 models, similar to Apple’s MagSafe charging system.
Android 16 and new Gemini innovations
The Pixel 10 series will likely boot with Android 16 out of the box. The company could also introduce new Gemini-powered tools, such as Camera Coach, that uses Gemini’s visual processing to give live guidance for framing, lighting, and angles while taking photos.
Further, Converstional Photo Editing will let users request photo edits via voice commands, without manually selecting tools. The Pixel Watch 4 is also likely to integrate Google’s Gemini AI chatbot.
