Do you find it hard to express yourself on dating apps? Worry no more—Hinge has announced a AI feature to help you "be yourself," but better. Isn’t it ironic that artificial intelligence is now teaching us how to be authentic? With Hinge’s help, your profile will be sprinkled with just the right words, prompts, and expressions to make you stand out. Hinge will now nudge you to write better, tweak your response and sometimes even push you to share a bit more about yourself than you would usually do.

So, what is the prompt feedback all about? If you've never used the Hinge dating app or are unfamiliar with how dating apps work, here’s a quick rundown. Hinge includes prompts in its profile setup—essentially questions posed by the app. These prompts can be random questions about your favourite city in the world, or a habit you dislike the most, things you cannot get enough of etc and you have the option to display them on your profile and provide your answers. The idea is to help your profile visitors get to know you better. However, people often get lazy and respond to these prompts with one-word answers, which usually fail to attract matches.

Now, Hinge has decided to step in. The app provides feedback on the quality of your prompt answers. If your response is good, it won’t suggest any changes. If it’s not particularly engaging, Hinge might recommend improvements or suggest adding more details. That said, Hinge will never write responses for you or generate answers like ChatGPT does.

One notable advantage is that the feedback is private—your potential matches won’t know you’ve taken  Hinge’s help to refine your answers.

Talking about the new feature, Logan Ury, Director of Relationship Science at Hinge, said, “We’re all familiar with dating app clichés like ‘pineapple on pizza’ or being ‘overly competitive about… everything.’ While these responses are common, they often fall short in showcasing the individuality and creativity that ignite meaningful conversations.By crafting Prompt responses that highlight your unique quirks and share authentic details about your personality, you can help potential matches get to know the real you. This small shift can make a big difference in finding a connection worth deleting the app for.”
