Indian smartphone brand Lava is planning to launch its first budget gaming-centric smartphone, the Lava Play Ultra 5G, this week. The smartphone’s design and reveal date have been teased via the company’s official X (formerly Twitter) account, marking the company’s entry into the gaming smartphone segment. Further, the smartphone is confirmed to come with a 120Hz AMOLED display.
Lava Play Ultra 5G: Launch date, expected specifications
The Lava Play Ultra 5G will be launched in India on August 20 and will be made available for purchase via Amazon. The e-commerce giant has put up a microsite in anticipation of the smartphone’s launch. Teaser images also suggest a large square rear camera module with a ‘64MP AI Matrix Camera.’
Through a press release, Lava has confirmed that the Play Ultra 5G will be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 processor with HyperEngine gaming optimisation, which ensures high frame rate stability, efficient thermal management, and smooth multitasking. It will have a 6.67-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with up to 120Hz refresh rate and 1,000 nits brightness.
For optics, the phone will have a 64MP primary camera and a 13MP front camera. For power, it is confirmed to house a 5,000mAh battery with 33W fast charging. Other features might include dual stereo speakers, and IP64 dust and water resistance. The brand has also revealed that the Lava Play Ultra 5G will be priced below Rs 20,000.
