If you thought iPhones were pricey in India, wait till you see what Turkish buyers have to pay! The iPhone 16e, which Apple claims is an “affordable” model, is anything but that in Turkey. While the base 128GB version sells for $599 (around Rs 50,000) in the US, Turkish consumers have to shell out ₺47,999 (Rs 1,09,000 approximately)—which is more than twice the country’s monthly minimum wage!

Here is how much iPhone 16e costs in Turkey

The price goes even higher for larger storage versions. The 256GB model costs ₺52,999 (approximately Rs 1,20,500), while the 512GB version reaches ₺62,999 (approximately Rs 1,43,500). Türkiye is officially the most expensive place to buy an iPhone, followed by Brazil, Sweden, Norway, and Denmark.

Buying from abroad is also not simple

Some Turkish buyers try to beat the system by getting their iPhones from abroad. But here’s the kicker—you need to register foreign phones to use them with Turkish carriers, and that registration fee alone is a mind-blowing ₺45,614 (Rs 1,10,000 approx)!

This means that if you pick up the iPhone 16e for $600 in the US, you still end up paying around ₺66,614 ($1,60,000 approx) after registration—more than three times the country’s minimum wage! And this fee has been skyrocketing over the years, jumping from just ₺1,838 in 2020 to a staggering ₺45,614 in 2025.
